IV. Subject Objects (2023)

School Project

Subject Objects is a series of twelve illustrations created for Olga Ravn’s short story collection, De Ansatte. The collection comprises 172 science-fiction testimonies from a futuristic outer space, blending science and fiction in equal measure. The illustrations explore the duality of everyday objects as both subjects and objects, examining the interplay between the human and the non-human. Nine curated everyday objects, referenced in five testimonies, were selected for this series. When paired with the text, these objects take on an anthropomorphic quality—despite their lifeless nature.

The process began with preliminary sketches, followed by scanning the curated objects. These scans were refined and finalized in Photoshop and Illustrator, merging analog techniques with digital precision to bring the illustrations to life
