XV. Metamorphoses (2024)
School Project
Metamorphoses is an exploration of transformation, inspired by Ovid’s work, and how the theme of metamorphosis transcends classical literature to influence modern culture, art, and pop culture. The recurring theme of metamorphosis became central to my work, highlighting how history and creativity continuously draw from the past to shape the present—a concept mirrored in today’s regenerative AI processes. The result is an A5 booklet designed as a catalog, combining quotations from Ovid with contemporary cultural references. Each spread juxtaposes classical mythology with modern icons from art, film, and pop culture, emphasizing transformation as a constant thread.
Pages are printed on semi-transparent 70g paper, creating a fluid, evolving visual narrative where each spread blends into the next. The project process involved curating a scrapboard of images exploring metamorphosis, refining combinations and layouts, and testing paper types to capture a transformative flow. The cover features the opening and closing lines of Metamorphoses on 90g tracing paper, framing the booklet in a cycle of continuous change, celebrating transformation as a timeless force in culture and creativity.
