XII. EI BLOT TIL LYST (2024)

School Project

The paraphrastic portrait of Annemette Kofoed is a design exhibition titled EI BLOT TIL LYST, which examines the intersection of ancient Greek comedies and tragedies with contemporary climate and societal critique. The work features three distinct pieces:

I. Greenland Ice Sheet, analog photography, 1st of December, 1928
II. Earth, satellite image (NASA), collage, 17th of October, 2000
III. Puppet Theater (20th century), The Royal Theatre, scan, 19th of June, 2024

This exhibition explores the classical triad of design—Firmitas, Utilitas, and Venustas—through a tragicomic lens, questioning the effectiveness of design's sustainable goals in the face of global climate challenges. While the design field strives for large-scale, sustainable solutions, the exhibition probes whether these efforts might unintentionally lead to deeper problems.

The work is based on preliminary sketches, incorporating archive photography, NASA collage, and Puppet theater scans. It was edited in Photoshop and Illustrator, then printed on water-resistant textile banners made from recycled polyester (235g, 106 x 115 cm), certified by FSC and WLT.
